'Dramatic Esthetiscs'
"I receive my inspiration from emotional and visual experiences. I find them in cities, filled with people, doing their things. I find them in nature, filled with beautiful plants and animals. I like to explore them, to travel around, collecting all kinds of things. Through reflecting upon the details of my perceptions, I (re)organize them, which brings me new insights and ideas. Painting is a way for me to share those insights and ideas. Each painting in a way shows an organized, symbolic collection, which can be viewed upon and interpreted by others."
"The visual language I use moves between figuration and abstraction. Not one or the other, but a mixture of the two. Contradictions such as Black and White, Positive and Negative, Male and Female, create a dramatic tension in me, making me want to create a balance between existing contrasts. In that process I alternate between angular lines and round forms, strong vivid colors and black&white, larger shapes and smaller details. This way a strong imagery arises, and by applying it in a controlled way, I want to make all the elements move esthetically over the canvas, and address a sense of inspiring aliveness within the viewer."
